Minimum delivery quantity
Our packing boxes hold 10 plants which is therefore the most cost efficient number for us to sell and for you to buy. It is also better for the environment as full boxes reduce excess packaging. However, mindful of the cost implications of buying a full box, the Minimum Order is 8 plants.
Delivery Area
We can accept orders from overseas (provided that payment is made in £ sterling) but unfortunately we can only deliver goods to addresses in mainland Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales).
Delivery charges
We have tried to keep our post and packaging charges as simple and cost effective as possible. We charge a contribution towards P&P based on the number of 'boxes' despatched.
What counts as a box?
The price for the first box is £5.95. For the second and each subsequent box add £2.95. An additional surcharge of £19.00 applies to areas of Northern Scotland with the following postcodes:
AB31-38, AB40-56, IV1-28, IV30-32, IV36, IV40, IV52-54, IV63, KW1-14, PA21-38, PH4-41, PH49, PH50.
Low Weight Gift Items
These include herb seeds, gift vouchers, soaps, herbal creams and lotions (excluding gift packs). P&P on these items applies as follows:
Delivery time
We will process your order as quickly as we can. Plants are despatched from Monday to Thursday (excluding Bank Holidays) to avoid them being held in transit over the weekend. We will send you an email when your order has been despatched.
For plant orders placed between May and December we aim to despatch orders within two-four days of receipt, depending on the time and day of the week that the order is received. However, during the busy season please allow up to seven days before despatch.
Orders for plants placed between January and April will be despatched as soon as the herbs are ready (we anticipate from mid-April onwards although we are dependent on the weather). They will be processed in order of receipt and you will be notified by email once the order has been despatched. Payment will be taken at the time of order.
Herb seeds, gift vouchers and gift items are despatched within two-four days of receipt all year round.
Delivery to another address
We can deliver your order to another person or address – please enter the additional delivery details when prompted at the checkout. We will still need your name and home address to verify the credit card payment.
Not going to be at home?
Your order should arrive one or two days after despatch. If you are not going to be at home you may leave details of a safe place where our carriers can leave your order in your absence. You will be able to enter this information before checking out. Parcels are left in this way at your own risk.
IMPORTANT: Please do not forget that once the plants have been delivered they are your responsibility. If there is any chance that you will be on holiday or away around the likely despatch date please let us know immediately and we will delay despatch (provided the order has not left the farm).
Non-Delivery
If you do not receive your order within 2 days of despatch please email us at orders@nicholsonsherbfarm.co.uk or telephone 01354 669801. Please leave a message if the telephone is unattended. Orders for fresh herb plants are sent by overnight carrier and can be tracked. You will receive an email from our carrier following despatch which will allow you to track your order if you wish.
Substitutions
Our website is continuously updated and any plants that are out of stock will be clearly shown. However, occasionally some plants may not be available due to high demand or crop failure. If we are unable to supply a particular item we will do our best to provide a suitable substitute to complete your order.
VAT
The majority of our herbs have a culinary use and as such are zero rated for VAT. Where any plant or gift item is subject to VAT at the standard rate this is included in the price but will be shown, for tax purposes, at the checkout and on the invoice.
Credit Card Security
We gather payment card details via a secure page and then pass them to Paypal for processing on our behalf. We do not store or retain any payment card details.
Plant/Gift Quality and Liability
We supply high quality plants which are packed with care. Every effort is made to ensure that the plants are supplied true to name and free from pests or diseases at the time of despatch. Please examine your delivery carefully and report any problems by email or telephone within 24 hours.
If your order is damaged in transit we will ask you, if possible, to supply a photograph of the damaged packaging and contents so that we may take this up with our carriers. Please retain all damaged plants or gifts and packaging whilst the matter is investigated.
Our liability for plants or gifts supplied is limited, at our option, to the replacement of those plants or gifts or a refund of the price paid. We regret that we cannot accept liability if problems are not reported within 24 hours or for plants which fail to thrive due to unsuitable care, neglect, adverse weather or any other matters beyond our control.
PLEASE NOTE: Plant size at despatch will vary depending on the time of year. The plants are raised as naturally as possible and we are therefore subject to the vagaries of the British weather. Plants, particularly those raised from seed, may be smaller earlier in the season. Perennial plants despatched towards the end of the season may have been cut back in readiness for the colder weather to come.
Caring for your Herbs
To help you care for your herbs following their delivery we have prepared an information sheet which contains planting guidance. A link to this factsheet will be included in the email which we send you when we despatch your order.
Cancellations and Refunds
If you cancel your order before the goods are despatched from the farm we will arrange a full refund of the cost of your order.
You may cancel orders for items other than plants after they have been despatched but only if you return the goods in the unopened and undamaged packaging they were sent in and within seven days of receipt. The goods must be returned at your own expense. We recommend that goods are returned by recorded delivery so that their return can be tracked. Upon receipt of the unopened and undamaged goods we will arrange to refund the cost of your order.
If your order is for live plants then unfortunately, since these are perishable goods, orders cannot be cancelled following their despatch.
Disclaimer
Although we do not provide details of any medicinal uses of the herbs or gifts sold on our website, we are aware that some may be considered to have medicinal properties. Herbs should not be used medicinally either internally or externally without advice from a qualified practitioner.
Please also consider any allergies or on-going medical conditions (including pregnancy) and consult with your doctor if in any doubt about consuming any herbs in food or drink or applying any of the topical herbal gift lotions or creams we supply. The culinary uses given for our fresh herbs are for guidance only.
Privacy
We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal information that customers provide us with in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. At no time will we sell or pass your details to third parties without obtaining your consent (save that your name, address and email details will be passed to our carriers for goods delivery purposes).
The information you provide is used to process your order. In addition we may occasionally contact you to let you know of any special promotions, new products or any news we feel may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive this information please email us at admin@nicholsonsherbfarm.co.uk including the word "Unsubscribe" in the heading.
Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Our cookies enable us to store items in your shopping basket between visits.
Most web browsers automatically accept cookies but you can usually change your browser to prevent that. Even without a cookie you can still enjoy our site, but certain of the advanced features designed to enhance your visit will not be available to you.
Order Tracking
If you have placed your order after clicking on a Google AdWords advert then we will have gathered anonymous tracking information to enable us to link the click on the advert to a sale. This data is anonymous and is only used only to enable us to monitor the effectiveness of our advertising.
